Elle shares …
We have a ton of holiday traditions that our family shares, like driving around every year looking at Christmas lights, baking Christmas cookies and making Russian Tea. But, one of my favorite holiday traditions is making Pomander Orange Balls (small oranges with cloves pushed into them). My grandma made them with me when I was young and I had so much fun making designs in the oranges with the cloves. We would tie them up with red ribbon and hang them on the tree or display them on her table. Every year I looked forward to spending this time with her and still continue to make them to this day! I hope to someday pass along the tradition to my nephew!

Three talented ladies!
So nice to read about so many holiday traditions. I have always made sugar cookies and decorated with my boys. Lots of fun memories of that.
My Grandma would spend the whole month before Christmas making fruit cake, cookies, rum balls, fudge and little Christmas cakes. We all would eat all day on these sweets and never had much room for dinner. Ha! It was so much fun.
Beautiful memories and traditions. I am from Sri Lanka and one tradition is breudher which is not sri lankan at all but Dutch in origin. A cross between bread and cake with raisins in it. It has to be beaten for simply ages and I can remember all of us taking turns in beating the dough till it became almost cake like!
Even though we have plenty of holiday traditions in my family, I’m so tempted to try some of these too. I just love the holidays. Great gifts too. Thanks for all the great links.
I’m a follower too.
I have your button on my blog, too

What a great giveaway! My favorite Christmas tradition is the whole family playing a board game after dinner on Christmas day. I have fond memories of my Grandpa shouting at the T.V whilst playing a game called ‘Atmosphere’. Or spending all afternoon and most of the evening trying to figure out how to put the ‘Star-Trek’ board game together! I dont think we ever got round to playing it!
Neat! What a great giveaway, and I really enjoyed the stories.

The soundtrack to all of my Christmases growing up was Robert Goulet’s album, “This Christmas I Spend with You.” Now that I have my own family, I searched high and low and found a CD copy of this holiday music classic. As soon as I hear the first few notes, it is instant happy, holy, yummy holiday time. My 4 year old loves it, too. It is not Christmas in our house without Robert Goulet.

I’m so enjoying reading all the Christmas memories. Wouldn’t it make a great special edition of the magazine if it were full of individual memories such as this?
Wow! Thanks so much!!
I found this blog today, so I missed taking part in the first 5 days of Christmas. The words “Sunday School” caught my attention. My cousin, Jan, is a Sunday school teacher. She often shares with me, the delightful stories of occurances in her classroom. Sunday school brings to mind an image of a safe haven. ALL the artists have thier own special flair that sets them apart from others. Oh, it would be Heaven to win a token of fine art from any one of them.
Talented women!

Lovely tradition. Thanks so much!
Our family has made it a tradition to bring their stockings to my mom’s for our family celebration and we set them up in my mom’s room. Then each adult takes turns filling the stockings up. We take the whole year to collect things and have a $ limit unless it is handmade. It is really fun, can be silly and we always make sure any special guests have a filled stocking to enjoy too!
Love Christmas traditions. Enjoy the season, it’ll be gone before you know it.
WOW! What a great giveaway, hope I win!!

One of my favorite traditions was making Christmas goodies with my dad. We usually made glass candy, popcorn balls, and chex mix. He passed away into the arms of Jesus 5 and a half years ago and I haven’t been able to bring myself to do it on my own yet. Maybe next year when my daughter is 4 and can handle projects that are a little more involved. Thanks for sharing and for the give away!

Voted on spring cover!
I love Christmas traditions…I make 24 little gift bags for the 24 days before Christmas and our 2 daughters traded off days receiving them growing up. I would hang a gift bag on their door knob each night after they went to bed. Now that they are grown up and Moms I give each family of grandkids a set of gift bags even numbers 2 to 24 and another set of odd numbers 1 to 23. I enjoy collecting the 24 little gifts all year long to use for this project. My girls still love this tradition through their kids.
Giveaways are so much fun.
Thanks girls – for both the memories and the prizes!!!

Thanks for the chance!! Beautiful!
It’s always fun to learn about others special traditions at the holidays. Two years ago we started having The 4 weeks of Christmas. We get together once a week in December and eat or go to a concert or movie or play a game of monopoly and at each meeting exchange a gift each. This was my idea to get to see more of my kids after they left me with an empty nest. Of course, the gift at each meeting, was the bait for the kids and we have had so much fun doing this. Thanks so much for the giveaway. ms.cheryl
