Wednesday Wisdom … Cathie Filian

Have you met my friend Cathie Filian?

She is a dynamic redhead who I absolutely adore … and I think she is genius!

When you craft is there not always something that you need that you can’t find because it hasn’t been invented yet? We all have .. .and we wonder why someone hasn’t thought of it before, and then we think that we should invent it, then we begin to do our research on how to manufacturer it, promote it, sell it, and then it all becomes just too much and we go back to wondering why no one has invented “it” yet! Well Cathie did all of that … but the giving up part … saw a need, invented, had manufactured, and is helping to promote and sell HOT GLUE GUN HELPERS.

We have all needed this since the invention of glue guns and it took this crafter just like you and me to get it done! Get a diet coke, a skinny vanilla latte, or a chamomile tea and visit Cathi’s website – Domestic in the City … you will want to spend some time there!

Much love Jo

~A Crafty Holiday~

A-Crafty-Holiday-button-1

When our friend Angela Flicker asked us to participate in

A Crafty Holiday 2010

We jumped at the chance. Angela has a great idea. She wants to encourage us to buy handmade and crafty this holiday season. With this in mind, she started "A Crafty Holiday" blog hop. Read her mission here. We at Where Women Create couldn't think of a better way to support handmade than to add our blog to this great cause!

So here is our answer to this question posed by Angela …

"Why are you buying handmade items this holiday season"?

Our motto here at Where Women Create is

From A Woman's Soul.
Through A Woman's Eyes.
By A Woman's Hands.

We fully and completely stand behind this philosophy. I can tell you that it is an amazing feeling purchasing something handmade. You are directly supporting a labor of love! As I walked through the Handmade Market at The Creative Connection I was in awe of the beautiful works of art that these talented women created. I purchased many Christmas gifts, and even some things for myself. I came home with some one-of-a kind treasures that I will always hold dear to my heart.

Please keep this in mind this holiday season.

We need to support each other and the handmade movement!

Our next assignment for this project was to create a list of handmade items on our holiday shopping list.
