It’s Written in Stone

I really love the idea of making the wall itself the focal point or “art” of a room.  And while I do enjoy conventional pieces of art on walls, I also appreciate the simplicity of the wall being art.  That is probably why I am so drawn to stone or rock interior walls.  There is something so calming about bringing a little outside in.  And it creates a gorgeous canvas if you want to hang any additional decor.

I have to admit that having stones on a wall are not usually my taste, but in these photos they make it look so beautiful. I love them all. Thanks for sharing great ideas. :-)

I have stone in my kitchen, dining room and living room and love it! So the answer is YES, we have thought of putting stone on our walls.

    Hi Jo,

i do love your blog, just discovered it.I do love stone walls or floors very much actually. There are some downstairs in my entry way amongst the slate floor. Its a very small area so I did it myself which was kind of exhausting since it was a first for me but I really love it. Someone finished the grouting for me ha ha! Also in my kitchen behind the stove I have some Travertine stones on that small wall. It really made my kitchen more interesting and now Im working on the other wall!!
