THE CREATIVE CONNECTION … it was an event that was created for women to share their knowledge, their skills, their perceptions and sensibilities, their accomplishments, and yes, even some of their secrets. What actually happened was an “experience” where women gave to each other “everything” they had to give.
At the Crowne Plaza in St. Paul, September 15-17, 2011, the women who came created a “shelter in the storm” where dreams were confessed, hopes were repeated out loud, problems and setbacks were worn as a badge of courage, knowledge and experience were given freely, and confidence was entrusted to all of us, by each of us, without hesitation and with elegance, polish, and sincerity.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being such an important part of my dream and proving that anything is possible … we simply need to believe in ourselves, in each other, and quiet those on the outside who profess their skepticism, hesitation, and distrust.
If I had but one wish for each of you (besides a Marcus Leaver in your life), it would be that you receive what you so freely give.

Oh, how I would’ve LOVED to have been there last week! I’ve followed decor8 since May 2006 and I live in Minneapolis, so it would’ve been so much fun to meet Holly in person. Alas, I had been unemployed since April, and couldn’t afford it. BUT, I started a new job this week! Things are looking up financially. I still wouldn’t mind winning. :)
I haven’t had much time to fully embrace my passion for photography and scrapbooking, but the magazine and this community keep me inspired to MAKE more time. My only child is now in kindergarten and I NEED to get caught up on her scrapbooks. That is my goal !! Thank you for all your inspiration.

Hi…I really wanted to attend this years Creative Connection event for the first time. As a creative and motivated woman, I am always seeking new opportunities to grow and have always felt that God had a great plan for me.
This year my life changed in a huge way. In March 2011, my husband, only 53 years old died unexepectedly of a massive heart attach while on the job. Sept. 11 of 2011 we would have celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary. My husband was the beginning of God’s great plan for me because he was the most wonderful man in the world that God placed in my life for a reason. He loved my family, his church and community.
Now I am waiting for the rest of the story…”what else does God have planned for me?” As I heal I search!
What a wonderful event! Someday I hope to attend, heck maybe some day I will be a keynote speaker!

Was sad to have missed the event this year, but my Dad had a stem cell transplant for multiple myeloma and he needed someone with him for the 1st 6 weeks of the procedure. Hopefully next year!

Oh how I desperately wanted to attend the Creative Connection this year!! As an educator/librarian in a junior high, the timing was impossible for me. We just CANNOT take 2 days off 4 weeks after school has started. So….. I just have to look at the photos and the posts and dream of the day when I retire from the public school system and can take time when I need to take time to do the things that have become so important to me. I would love the bag. I had hoped I would get one, but didnt realize I had to attend the welcome dinner. I was actually in town that eveneing (drove from Milwaukee) I hadnt registered for it -so I just sat in my hotel. I would love a chance to win the bag!
