This is indeed so exciting to share my story with the readers of Where Women Create.
Jo Packham has done an outstanding job at creating a community of artists that want to share their talents with one another and my story although different is similar to many of us who raise a family and try to carve out some time for ourselves. It’s not always easy but the benefits are out of this world. My son was diagnosed in kindergarten with ADD. And then my daughter upon entering 5th grade suffered with Lyme disease for 5 years not attending very much school for two of them. So we all have our struggles, the importance for me was to have faith, take time with God and surrender to what is, ask for help and enjoy the grace periods of creativity. Believe me I’m human and wondered if I’d ever get where I’d like to be but what I’ve learned is that I am right where I am supposed to be.
How refreshing is that??
Sis Boom the place where I live and work is my refuge. It is a chance for me to begin my legacy. It all starts for me with collaging my journals by choosing anything from magazines that resonates with my heart and every year I take time out to do this in the month of January and I am invigorated to explore new places of creativity.
The energy and inspiration that I feel when I am scrapping out the New Year with new visions and ideas in mind can not be contained.I believe in this process which I started over 20 years ago upon reading The Artists Way by Julia Cameron. It was the motivation I needed to express myself.
To unveil the vision that was before me.
I am religious about this tradition because years later I go into these books and pick up new ideas. Everyone who comes into my studio cannot believe the portfolio of ideas that sits before them.
In 2005 I had the opportunity to create my own line of fabric and I was terrified of the rejection. But another thing I’ve learned is to have faith in myself, trust my intuitions, ask for help and never give up.
This post is for all of us who never think we’ll make it..I still have days but if we do the next right thing and believe in the process the right door opens.
I am so glad after working in NYC for knoll Textiles for 12 years that I got to be home with my kids and do what I love. Today one at college and the other almost out the door my children love their creative surroundings and tell me how proud they are of me. It doesn’t get better than that. Have a great day and reach, reach high, dream big, dream bigger, and never give up.
Tweet me, FB me, post comments, I’m listening. All my best to you Jo and to you Paige for giving me a turn in the creative Womens spotlight.
Jennifer

Love your story, love your fabric and so appreciate your inspiration. I gave up all my creative pursuits when I had to totally focus on a son suffering from major depression in his early teens. We worked through those years and came out renewed to keep my dreams alive, working as a liturgical textile artist. Artist Way helped me as well and I am using journaling to point me forward on this journey. I adore your fabric, you are a wonderful designer.

Reading the most recent post, I was notiching how we both had little ones in Kindergarten diagnosed with ADD. My granddaughter was wonderful up until age 4. Once she started Kindergarten, we started having behavioral problems, and she was diagnosed with ADD. it definitely is not an easy diagnosis to live with, but from what we’ve been told there is light at the end of the tunnel. Reading stories like these is what gives us hope.
I’ve been reading your Where Women Create books in addition to the blog. Jennifer Paganelli’s above statement is the most powerful one about creative work that I’ve read. Thanks for this. She is a talented designer so of course would enjoy winning any selection from her colorful Sis Boom fabric collections.

“…enjoy the grace periods of creativity.”
Your words resonate with me as I try to accept new limitations that come to me from the health side of my life.
Your fabrics are beautiful and I would love to “play” with some – a change from my usual fiber of choice, wood.
Thanks for sharing your story and offering this give-away!
I love Jennifer! She always uses such beautiful clear colours and strong patterns – expecially on Queen Street. I’m so looking forward to playing more with her fabrics!
Such a great give-away, and such beautiful fabric! Thanks for the chance to win such a cool contest
Inspiring story! Beautiful fabric designs. Can’t imagine my life without creativity. It’s also my refuge, my time to relax and to escape the stresses of life.

It’s wonderful to read success stories, but it’s even better when they are followed with words of encouragement. I would love to win these fun, pretty fabrics:)
All you have to do is look at that fabric and you can’t help but smile and be inspired to start a new journey!
